Notes from Joseph "Yossi" Kalichstein, Artistic Director of Fortas
There was no one more encompassing of all music than Leonard Bernstein. Had he written nothing else but Chichester Psalms, he would have earned his spot among the greatest classical composers; had he written nothing else but West Side Story, he would have occupied the same perch in the musical theater world. And he did so much else! The man was inspiration personified, so it is a special pleasure to participate in the worldwide homage to him in the anniversary year of what would have been his 100th birthday. As befitting his quest to touch every aspect of art and any other human interaction, this program, guided by his son Alexander Bernstein, intermingles some of his vocal and piano music with fascinating stories and multimedia.
