Legendary American composer Philip Glass's iconic 1982 multimedia collaboration with experimental filmmaker Godfrey Reggio is a prescient mediation on the imbalance between humans and our environment--a "cult classic" cinematic tone poem that's resonating anew with audiences today. In the Kennedy Center premiere of the film, the Philip Glass Ensemble makes its eagerly anticipated Kennedy Center debut, performing the score live alongside The Washington Chorus.

Before the screening, Philip Glass reunites with Godfrey Reggio for a rare live appearance together, when they join moderator Mason Bates for an illuminating pre-concert talk, free with your concert ticket.

This event is part of the Kennedy Center's annual new celebration DIRECT CURRENT--an immersive showcase for cutting-edge contemporary arts and culture with a focus on interdisciplinary creations.
