About

Legendary American composer Philip Glass's iconic 1982 multimedia collaboration with experimental filmmaker Godfrey Reggio is a prescient mediation on the imbalance between humans and our environment--a "cult classic" cinematic tone poem that's resonating anew with audiences today. In the Kennedy Center premiere of the film, the Philip Glass Ensemble makes its eagerly anticipated Kennedy Center debut, performing the score live under the direction of Music Director Michael Riesman and alongside The Washington Chorus.

Before the screening beginning at 6:30 pm. and lasting for approximately 45 minutes, Philip Glass reunites with Godfrey Reggio for a rare live appearance together, when they join moderator Mason Bates for an illuminating pre-concert discussion and Q&A, free with your concert ticket.

Performance Timing: Approximately 90 minutes, with no intermission.
