From the Highlands to Appalachia, Future Folk explores the modern intersection of folk traditions and classical music in this unique pairing of two visionary voices. Scottish folk singer-songwriter King Creosote (Kenny Anderson) performs a solo set on guitar, including songs from his latest album Astronaut Meets Appleman. Pulitzer Prize winner Caroline Shaw offers several works for string quartet, including the folk-inspired By and By, which she’ll perform with the Dover Quartet. DJ Justin Reed will set the vibe with roots-styled beats from dub to Hip Hop.

Enter the Kennedy Center and meander upstairs, where the Atrium transforms into an immersive, designed space curated by our own Composer-in-Residence Mason Bates. No need to stay still: wander to one of multiple bars or explore innovative art projections throughout the performance. Wrap up the evening with an after-party featuring a special DJ. All performances are general admission.
