Fresh from playing a key part in 2017’s Terrace Theater grand re-opening, the foursome returns as the Kennedy Center’s new Quartet-in-Residence. In its first season of this three-year residency, the group will showcase classic repertoire alongside a work by our Composer-in-Residence Mason Bates. Lauded by the Chicago Tribune for their “expert musicianship” and “deep musical feeling,” these uniquely talented musicians herald a bright beginning to our season.

A Note from Joseph "Yossi" Kalichstein, Artistic Director of Fortas

Of all of music’s miracles, Schubert’s last two years of life truly stand out. Where did this 30-year-old find the emotional depth and astounding inspiration to create his last Piano Sonatas, the Winterreise, and the Death and the Maiden Quartet, not to mention the G major Quartet offered in this program? The Dover foursome—age-mates of Schubert at this great time of genius—can more than do these works justice with their warmth, musical integrity, and unique voice.
