This collective of musicians from the Grammy®-nominated Venice Baroque Orchestra returns with a program highlighting some of the quintessential composers of the era. Devoted to 17th- and 18th-century masterpieces, these talented artists make up “one of the world’s most adventurous and dramatic period-instrument ensembles” (NPR). Soprano Robin Johannsen showcases her “well-rounded musicality” (Financial Times) by joining them for selections by Handel, Giacomelli, Marcello, and Caldara.

A Note from Joseph "Yossi" Kalichstein, Artistic Director of Fortas

I’ve already sung (pun intended!) the praises of the Renaissance as the forgotten treasure of Western music. Well, thanks mostly to Bach, the Baroque cannot be forgotten. This superb group reminds us however of the variety, breadth, and inventiveness of this short, intensely prodigious period. We’re getting some Handel and Vivaldi, but also Marcello, Albinoni (a personal favorite), and two composers I must admit are new to me!
