John Adams returns for a program that includes two of his works, The Dharma at Big Sur, featuring violinist Leila Josefowicz, and his Doctor Atomic Symphony. Also on the program are works by Britten and Stravinsky.

John Adams
will preface his performance of the Doctor Atomic Symphony by introducing a brief  screening of Gerald Finley singing "Batter My Heart," a powerfully emotional aria that closes Act I of the opera Doctor Atomic, and that is featured in the orchestral version of the symphony.
