The sweeping choruses…the beautiful arias…the sacred majesty. Washington's favorite holiday tradition lives on when the NSO performs George Frideric Handel's beloved Messiah

Experience all the hope, redemption, and ceremonial grace of this epic masterpiece. There are many performances of Messiah in Washington this holiday season, but only one is this magnificent and moving! The Washington Post hails the NSO's annual concerts as "radiantly cheerful" with "an exuberant Hallelujah chorus that floats right up to heaven."

This year's performances feature the return of Nicholas McGegan, "one of the finest baroque conductors of his generation" (London's The Independent). He leads four stellar singers--soprano Sherezade Panthaki, countertenor Jay Carter, tenor Thomas Cooley, and baritone Christopher Purves--along with Grammy Award winners The Washington Chorus.

Performance Timing: Part One - 60 min.; Intermission - 15 min.; Part Two - 60 min.

NOTE: Nicholas McGegan will sign CDs and materials in the Grand Foyer outside of the Concert Hall, following the concerts on Friday, Dec. 19 and Saturday, Dec. 20.
