These FREE concerts mark the first public performances of the orchestral portion of the 2017 Kennedy Center/National Symphony Orchestra's four-week festival of orchestral and chamber music for young people ages 15 to 20.

These concerts mark the first public performances of the orchestral portion of the 2017 Kennedy Center/National Symphony Orchestra National Trustees Summer Music Institute, a four-week festival of orchestral and chamber music for young people ages 15 to 20 at the Kennedy Center. The Institute consists of orchestral and chamber music coached by NSO musicians, conducting and master classes, private lessons with NSO musicians, two side-by-side rehearsals with the NSO, and additional enrichment sessions.

  • Brahms – Tragic Overture, Op. 81

  • Tchaikovsky – Symphony 6 in B minor, Op. 74, “Pathétique”
Performance Timing: Approximately 1 hour with no intermission
