Once upon a time, world-renowned violinist Joshua Bell took his Stradivarius into the D.C. subway and played as an anonymous "busker" for the bustling commuters. Of the thousands who passed, only a few stopped to listen! Bell's experience was imaginatively captured in the multi-award-winning children's book The Man with the Violin--and now he joins us alongside conductor Michael Stern for a very special concert featuring a Canada's National Arts Centre and Kennedy Center co-commissioned work inspired by the tale. Don't miss this stunning world premiere that brings together sensational music, engaging narration by Emmy Award winner Michele Norris, and colorful imagery from the storybook. Most enjoyed by age 5 and up. All patrons, regardless of age must have a ticket.

Come early for a Musical Instrument "Petting Zoo"
Starting one hour before the concert, hands-on activities let children get up close with the instruments they'll see played on the stage.

Stay after for a Kids' Chat
Following the concert, young audience members can ask questions and hear engaging stories in an up-close-and-personal talk with some of the artists.

Note: Following the Kids' Chat, Joshua Bell will sign CDs in the Grand Foyer outside of the Concert Hall.

Performance Timing: Approximately 65 minutes, with no intermission.
