As part of the JFK Centennial Week celebration, the National Symphony Orchestra delivers its traditional Memorial Day Concert, an uplifting performance honoring the military service of all men and women in uniform as well as their families at home.

The National Symphony Orchestra delivers its traditional Memorial Day Concert, an uplifting performance honoring the military service of all men and women in uniform as well as their families at home. Hosted by Laurence Fishburne and Joe Mantegna, the program includes performances from Renée Fleming, Vanessa Williams, Scotty McCreery, Five for Fighting, Ronan Tynan, and Russell Watson, with appearances by Gen. Colin Powell (USA Ret.), John Ortiz, Christopher Jackson and Ana Ortiz. This year's event also features a salute to the Doolittle Raiders presented by Gary Sinise, as well as an exploration of the benefits of music therapy for injured veterans. An American tradition for 28 years, the award-winning program is broadcast live each year on PBS.

Also participating are the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff with The U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, The U.S. Army Chorus, The Soldiers' Chorus of the U.S. Army Field Band, The U.S. Navy Band Sea Chanters, The U.S. Air Force Singing Sergeants, and the Armed Forces Color Guard and Service Color Teams provided by the Military District of Washington, D.C
