About

Jacomo Bairos, conductor

The late David Bowie was a cultural chameleon whose music flirted with everything from avant-pop to glam rock to new wave. In a concert inspired by his role in Wes Anderson’s 2004 film The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Brazilian actor/musician Seu Jorge celebrates Bowie’s legendary catalog, elevating his gorgeous acoustic interpretations of “Rebel, Rebel,” “Life on Mars,” “Starman,” and more with the evocative power of the NSO. Billboard raves, “Few versions of David Bowie’s music underscore the breadth and depth of his compositions as Seu Jorge’s adaptations.” And Bowie himself once remarked, “Had Seu Jorge not recorded my songs acoustically in Portuguese, I would never have heard this new level of beauty which he has imbued them with.”
