Circle Yoga (Ages 5 and up)

Yoga is one of the few activities kids and adults can actively participate in together - their whole lives! Circle Yoga's Family Yoga is a playful class designed for kids ages 5 to 8 years to experience yoga with a parent or caregiver. The class will incorporate yoga poses for kids and adults to enjoy together, as well as yoga and mindfulness games and breathing and relaxation techniques. All will leave the class rejuvenated, calmly energized and full of joy.

Happy Theater (Ages 0-5)

Welcome to Amazonia! Using our imaginations, music, and movement we'll explore the rainforest and Amazon river, meet Amazonian shaman, and create a Museum of Amazonia with amazing animals and plants we meet along the way. We will learn about the importance of forests and why people should protect and save them. This workshop is best enjoyed by children under the age of 5.

CityDance (Ages 3-5)
CityDance POP! will be teaching a Creative Movement class for ages 3-5 at The Kennedy Center's Second Saturday event on March 9th! Get ready to explore balance, coordination and imagination through dance. CityDance POP! offers dance classes where you can move, groove and just have fun! POP! offers more than 20 dance classes for all ages, starting at 2.5 years old and up. Classes offered include: Creative Movement, Ballet, Jazz/Modern, Hip-Hop, Break Dancing, Contemporary, Tap and more. POP! is the destination for high quality, fast-paced dancing fun and the dance studios conveniently located in Tenleytown DC.

YoKid (Ages 0-5)

Enjoy a morning of family fun! The sessions will integrate yoga postures, breathing techniques, and mindfulness exercises with stories, games, and songs. The YoKid yoga experience empowers participants to become self-aware, resilient youth who mindfully navigate life. Participants will learn and practice strategies to cultivate calm and focus through mindful play. No prior experience necessary.

HOW TO SIGN UP

Tickets are not required, but because this event involves physical activity, all participants must sign a waiver prior to participating. Participants may sign a waiver electronically using the link below or in person at the time of the workshop, but spaces are first come, first served, with priority granted to those who have signed a waiver in advance online. The signup/liability form for each session will be posted in this space approximately two weeks prior to each workshop date. The online sign-up link is now closed, but waivers will be available Saturday on-site.

PARKING REMINDER

Please note that there is no free parking when attending free events at the Kennedy Center. Patrons have the option to go online to the Kennedy Center Pre-Paid Parking Portal to purchase date-specific pre-paid event parking at a rate of $20 (a $3 savings) for access to the Kennedy Center garage. Review ways to get to the Kennedy Center.

Who are these workshops intended for?
The Second Saturdays Series has been created to provide free workshops for adults and children (under 8) to try on an art form together. They are intentionally structured for active participation by both adults and children. Check each workshop (listed below) for a specific age range.

Is there a difference between the 9:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. workshops?
No, on any given Saturday during the Series, the content and instruction for both workshops are the same.

The link above is only for the next workshops on the schedule. When can I sign up for any of the workshops AFTER that?
We only post liability waivers for one Saturday at a time. The waivers for the next workshops will be available approximately two weeks prior to each workshop date.

Is there a waitlist once the workshops are full?
There will be a waitlist at the registration table on the morning of the event. You will be asked to fill out a liability waiver on site before participating at the check-in table.

If I signed up online, am I guaranteed a spot in the workshop?
If you have signed up online, please make sure to have checked in 15 minutes prior to the class beginning or your spot will be released. (Check in by 9:15 a.m. for the 9:30 a.m. workshop or 11:15 a.m. for the 11:30 a.m. workshop.)

Can I sign up for more than one workshop on a Saturday?
Yes, if you think you will want to participate in both workshops (keeping in mind the content and instruction will be exactly the same), you can sign up for more than one workshop on a Saturday.

What if I can't come any more? Can I cancel?
No need to cancel. If there is room the morning of, participation will be first come first served.

Is this really free?
Yes! Participation in the Second Saturdays Series is free and open to the public.

Will there be stroller parking?
Yes! We will have an identified space near the check-in table in the Grand Foyer for stroller parking.
