A Musical Remembrance of the Life and Service of John F. Kennedy

Fifty years after the untimely end of the Kennedy administration, the 2013 National Presidents Day Choral Festival pays tribute to the life and service of the 35th President of the United States. The Lux Aeterna of National Medal of Arts recipient Morten Lauridsen leads the program, which will also showcase the world premiere performance of Ethan Wickman's Let the Word Go Forth, a setting for choir and orchestra of JFK's most iconic speeches. The Navy Hymn Eternal Father, Strong to Save, which was performed by the Navy Band at President Kennedy's funeral, will be featured in a brand new arrangement by Dan Forrest, and the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Concert Choir will present Herbert Howells's Take Him, Earth, for Cherishing which was dedicated by the composer "to the honoured memory of John Fitzgerald Kennedy."
