Opera Lafayette's January program pairs the American premiere of Alessandro Scarlatti’s last major secular vocal work with Francesco Geminiani’s most famous instrumental composition, performed in its original version as a ballet pantomime, choreographed by the extraordinary Anuradha Nehru with Kalanidhi Dance.

The evening opens with Scarlatti’s Erminia, directed by Richard Gammon and featuring the return of two very special artists: soprano Julia Dawson (Emilia in 2014-2015’s Catone in Utica by Vivaldi) and bass-baritone André Courville (Dom Alvar in last season’s Les Indes Galantes by Rameau) as well as the debuts of mezzo-soprano Allegra De Vita and tenor Asitha Tennekoon. The program concludes with Geminiani’s Enchanted Forest, choreographed by the extraordinary Anuradha Nehru with Kalanidhi Dance. Both works are based on Torquato Tasso's epic poem Jerusalem Divided.
