Having conquered both Metropolitan Opera and Washington National Opera audiences last season in Rossini's Semiramide and Handel's Alcina, respectively, American mezzo-soprano Elizabeth DeShong makes her Washington solo recital debut in an eclectic program accompanied by pianist Mark Markham. The program includes Arnold Schoenberg's 4 Lieder (Op. 2); Benjamin Britten's A Charm of Lullabies; three songs by Reynaldo Hahn; Paper Wings by Jake Heggie; Arthur Honegger's Trois fragments; and Tri canzoni by Ildebrando Pizzetti.

Performance Timing: Part One - 40 min.; Intermission - 20 min.; Part Two - 37 min.
