Anton's Uncles
By Richard Alger and Tina Kronis
Los Angeles City College Theatre Academy

A fresh, funny, and physical look at Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya. In this new work, only the men remain, wrestling with their desires and pressed to examine a life unlived.

Performance Timing:  1 hour, with no intermission

Following the performance, LACC Theatre Academy will receive an Award.  The audience is invited to remain for a free concert reading of the one-act play Before the Scaean Gate by Ken Willard, University of Kansas.  After a tour of duty in Iraq, Josh, a troubled veteran in his mid-20s, is back home in Kansas with his mother.  The play explores Josh's difficulties readjusting to civilian life, dealing with his traumatic memories of the battlefield, and the resulting strain on his relationship with his mother.  (Timing:  Approximately 40 minutes)
