Three talented authors share their experience with disability through poetry and short story. Steve Brown
, an accomplished author and award-winning poet, has published several books and articles, including Movie Stars and Sensuous Scars: Essays on the Journey from Disability Shame to Disability Pride
and Dragonflies in Paradise: An Activist's Partial Poetic Autobiography
. He currently teaches at the Center on Disability Studies, University of Hawaii–Manoa, and cofounded the Institute on Disability Culture.
Also a musician, performance artist, director, playwright, and actor, Jim Ferris
is an award-winning poet. His book The Hospital Poems
is about his boyhood experiences at a charity hospital for children with disabilities. Kathi Wolfe
, a writer and poet, has had her work published in Innisfree Poetry Journal
, and Breath & Shadow
. A collection of her poetry, Helen Takes the Stage: The Helen Keller Poems
