About

Washington Performing Arts Piano Masters Series
James Tocco, piano

During his illustrious career, American pianist James Tocco has established himself as a stellar interpreter of both the standard piano repertoire and American masterworks. His orchestral debut at age 12 catapulted him to success, leading to scholarships for studies in Salzburg and Paris, but he returned to America to conclude his studies with Claudio Arrau. Tocco performs Liszt's complete Harmonies Poétiques et Religieuses, a ten-movement cycle, exploring the spectrum of human emotion from the joy of love to the despair of death to the invocation of a higher power.

Performance Timing: Approximately 1 hour, 45 minutes, with no intermission.

Please Note: Mr. Tocco will begin with a brief introduction to the program. Patrons who arrive after the introduction will be seated in the rear of the theater.
