Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra
Daniel Harding, conductor
Pierre-Laurent Aimard, piano

Lauded as the “Number One Orchestra in the World” by Gramophone, the acclaimed Royal Concertgebouw returns to D.C. with a program evoking emperors and heroes. The “brilliant musician and an extraordinary visionary” (The Wall Street Journal) Pierre-Laurent Aimard joins the orchestra for Beethoven’s show-stopping “Emperor” Concerto. Then the orchestra’s “rich sound, especially its mellow, full-bodied string section” (The New York Times) will be on display in Strauss’s famed heroic tone poem Ein Heldenleben, which was originally dedicated to the RCO.

“An orchestra of this caliber doesn’t come along every day.” – The Washington Post
