The world's largest arts festival, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is a crucible for the creation of new and experimental work, a place where talent is often unveiled. The Kennedy Center's ON THE FRINGE: Eye on Edinburgh celebrates the spirit of artistic entrepreneurship that exists in Edinburgh each summer in a showcase of some imaginative new work from that fertile environment. Presentations include theater, free performances on the Millennium Stage, performance art, and installations in the public spaces of the Center.
Lone Twin Present Nine Years Created & performed by Gregg Whelan and Gary Winters
Nine years ago two friends decided to see the world. On foot and bicycle, the two traveled the length and breadth of Europe, Scandinavia, North America and Australia. As they moved around the world Gregg Whelan and Gary Winters offered theatrical presentations as a gift to the people they met on their journey. Nine years and 700 performances later they have returned home, the journey complete. Nine Years brings together the entire body of work in one 90-minute show. The heart-shaped topography of Brussels, the shores of Lake Lucerne, downtown Philadelphia, the North Sea, the Arctic Circle, the blue skies of Lisbon's July and most of Switzerland will be revisited in an attempt to make some sense of the world around us.
Performance Timing: 90 minutes, with no intermission
