Théâtre de l'Atelier
by Marguerite Duras
Directed by Didier Bezace
with Geneviève Mnich and Anne Consigny
Savannah Bay explores questions of identity, aging, and the fugitive memory of personal tragedy. A young woman desperately seeks the truth about her mother, who committed suicide the day after she was born. Paris's historic Théâtre de l'Atelier, from the Montmartre neighborhood, stages Marguerite Duras's 1982 play brimming with the late French writer's beautifully impressionistic language and trademark themes of irrational love, loss, regret, and memory.
