~~~~~~~~~~~~
Camerata Ireland was founded in 1999 by Barry Douglas, and brings together the finest Irish musicians to celebrate the wealth of musical talent from within the island of Ireland, to present a new and positive image of Ireland and to create a unique sound that comes from the orchestra members' shared musical heritage. The orchestra travels and records widely throughout Europe and around the world, but returns to Ireland every summer for the annual Clandeboye Festival, which offers music students a chance to develop their skills.
Harmony North Choir consists of 190 students from 9 post-primary schools in North Belfast, who will come together during 2015-16 as part of the Harmony North Project. The project aims to bring young people, staff, parents and the wider community together in harmony in North Belfast through music, and will serve as a symbol of unity in 2016. For IRELAND 100, 50 of these students will travel to Washington to join Camerata Ireland and Codetta on stage.
Codetta is an internationally acclaimed chamber choir based in Derry, under the direction of Dónal Doherty. Codetta's members live and work throughout Ireland and the UK, but attend intensive weekend rehearsals in preparation for their busy touring schedule to festivals both nationally and internationally.
