About

Composer and pianist Billy Childs first heard the music of late songwriter and singer Laura Nyro as a child. Now, he presents selections from his exquisite album interpreting her cherished works, which won a 2015 Grammy Award for its song "New York Tendaberry." The album was recorded in conjunction with Renée Fleming and Yo-Yo Ma, both Kennedy Center Artistic Advisors.

Says curator Renée Fleming:

"It was a thrill to join Billy Childs on the recording of Map to the Treasure with my Kennedy Center Artistic Advisor colleague Yo-Yo Ma. Billy is a brilliant pianist, composer, and arranger, and his interpretations of Nyro's songs are fresh and deeply moving."
