Terrace Theater Re-Opening

Tap dancer Kazunori Kumagai and koto player Yumi Kurosawa join forces to pay tribute to the connection forged between the Kennedy Center and the government and people of Japan who supported the original opening of the Terrace Theater.

Japanese Connections is a special evening performance which features two ground-breaking Japanese artists. Kazunori Kumagai is well known for his tap dancing creativity on stage as well as his collaborations with other art forms. He will be accompanied by a jazz trio of Masa Shimizu (guitar), Samuel Torres (percussion), and special guest Alex Blake (bass). Yumi Kurosawa is renowned for her koto performances and innovative collaborations. She will be joined by So You Think You Can Dance contestant Virgil Gadson, for their first collaboration.

Together, these two celebrated artists pay tribute to the connection forged between the Kennedy Center and the government and people of Japan who supported the original opening of the Terrace Theater in 1979.
