About

Superstar soprano and Kennedy Center Artistic Advisor at Large Renée Fleming pairs her radiant vocals with the iconic sounds of jazz bassist and Kennedy Center favorite Christian McBride. A teen prodigy growing up in Philadelphia, McBride was shepherded into bands led by legends Bobby Watson and Benny Golson. He has gone on to win five Grammy Awards® and continues to host NPR’s Jazz Night in America. Accompanied by pianist Dan Tepfer, their concert follows a recent trio performance at London’s Wigmore Hall. Part of Renée Fleming VOICES.

Renée says, "I can't wait to sing again with the iconic jazz bassist Christian McBride at the re-opening of the Kennedy Center's Terrace Theater. We first recorded together on my Christmas in New York disc, and I recently joined him in his series at Wigmore Hall in London. Christian's consummate musicianship, open-hearted and genre-busting sensibility, and sheer virtuosity are a rare treat. He pushed me to the same kind of exploration; but then, freedom is the essence of jazz."
