Since its establishment in 2012, Malpaso has become one of the most sought-after Cuban dance companies with a growing international profile. The program will feature Aszure Barton's Indomitable Waltz along with Osnel Delgado's Ocaso and 24 Hours and a Dog.

Malpaso Dance Company

Since its establishment in 2012, Malpaso has become one of the most sought-after Cuban dance companies with a growing international profile. Emphasizing a collaborative process, the ensemble is an Associate Company of Joyce Theater Productions and led by Artistic Director Osnel Delgado. His duet Ocaso (“Sunset”), chronicles the evolution of a relationship following a cataclysmic event—while his 24 Hours and a Dog, performed in part to an original overture composed by Arturo O’Farrill, is inspired by “a day in the life” of 10 dancers in Havana. The program also features Aszure Barton's Indomitable Waltz, for eight dancers, an exploration of the soul under extreme emotional circumstances.

Every Thursday and Friday during Artes de Cuba from 9:30 p.m. to midnight, head to the Atrium after your evening show to enjoy spontaneous, free live entertainment with one or more of the artists featured during the festival! Purchase a cocktail at the Atrium bar, explore the visual art installations, and mingle with some of our very special guests in this exciting late-night lounge atmosphere. Please note capacity in the Atrium is limited each evening, so be sure to make your way to the Roof Terrace Level as early as you can.
