Arturo O’Farrill & The Afro Latin Jazz Ensemble

Arturo O’Farrill—pianist, composer, educator, and founder and Artistic Director of the nonprofit Afro Latin Jazz Alliance—was born in Mexico and grew up in New York City.  His professional career began with the Carla Bley Band and continued as a solo performer with a wide spectrum of artists including Dizzy Gillespie, Lester Bowie, Wynton Marsalis, and Harry Belafonte. Arturo is a five-time Grammy Award® winner: his well-reviewed and highly praised “Afro-Latin Jazz Suite” from Cuba: The Conversation Continues won in 2016  for Best Instrumental Composition, followed by a 2018 win in the same category for his recording Three Revolutions.
