The 2018 Serenade! Washington D.C. Choral Festival celebrates the 100th birthday of Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela with eight days of free choral music performances co-presented by Classical Movements and the Kennedy Center.

Mandela at 100: Songs of Hope, Justice & Unity

In collaboration with the Kennedy Center, Classical Movements announces a joint partnership to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of South African revolutionary, politician, and philanthropist, Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. 12 professional vocal ensembles hailing from 14 nations sharing President Mandela’s prized notions of “Hope, Justice & Unity” will perform collaborative concerts and exchange cultures through shared workshops and side-by-side rehearsals with select community choral groups and youth choirs alike, all while participating in outreach and service projects across the Greater Washington region.

All performances are free. Five concerts will take place on the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, no reservations required. The Grand Finale Concert will take place in the Concert Hall; see note about free ticket distribution below. The schedule of participating ensembles, subject to change, is as follows:

*PATRON NOTE: Reservations of up to four (4) seats for this concert are available in person at the Kennedy Center Box Office, at kennedy-center.org, or by calling (202) 467-4600 or (800) 444-1324. Order confirmations should be printed at home (note these are not tickets, but reservations), and will be valid until 5:45 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, 2018.

NOTE: Reserved tickets may be picked up from the Hall of Nations Box Office beginning at 4:30 p.m. Please present your confirmation to box office personnel in exchange for reserved seat tickets. Tickets that have not been claimed by 5:45 p.m. on July 1, 2018 will be released and distributed to a give-away line.
