About

In the heat of India, the pankha (hand fan) has been a fixture for centuries. Its shape and prominence makes it a prime canvas for craftsmen to display their skill. Jatin Das, an eminent contemporary artist, has spent decades seeking traditional crafted hand fans from provinces across India. Forty favorites picked from his collection display the variety of shapes, sizes, techniques, and materials used to craft this practical day-to-day item.
