In conjunction with WNO's presentation of Wagner's complete Ring, the National Gallery of Art will screen Fritz Lang's 1924 classic silent film Die Nibelungen, in a restored print from the Murnau-Stiftung Film Archive, Wiesbaden, Germany. Based on the epic poem The Nibelungenlied, with a screenplay by Lang and his wife Thea von Harbou, the story is divided into two parts, Siegfried and Kriemhild's Revenge. Organist Dennis James will provide live organ accompaniment based on the original score by Gottfried Huppertz.

Film Timing: Part 1: Siegfried - 2-3/4 hours; Intermission - 30 min.; Part 2: Kriemhild's Revenge - 2-1/4 hours

Note: This event is FREE, no tickets required, and seating is on a first-come, first-seated basis.
