MIAMI CITY BALLET

Founded by legendary National Medal of Arts recipient Edward Villella in 1986, Miami City Ballet is one of classical dance's most vibrant companies. Villella's artistic vision was molded by George Balanchine, Russian-American choreographer and ballet master of the New York City Ballet, Villella's home for over twenty years. Miami City Ballet is bringing one of Balanchine's finest works, The Four Temperaments, first staged in 1946. The Four Temperaments was Balanchine's experiment with distortion, inversion, and unconventional juxtaposition in terms of music and body placement, concepts Villella revered in his mentor.
