About the Company
Perlan Theatre Group prepared to perform as lions and mice
The Icelandic theater troupe Perlan (The Pearl) is a group of 13 adults with intellectual disabilities. They have performed on television, at conferences, and for various festivals around the world. Perlan has been the VSA Icelandic affiliate since 1989 and that connection has opened many doors for them. They celebrated their 25th anniversary two years ago with a gala performance at the City Theatre in Reykjavik. Through a collaboration with professional dancers, Perlan has found success in classical and modern ballet. Instructor and director Sigridur Eythorsdottir formed the theater and has guided it since its inception, writing and directing the plays.
