With a unique blend of jazz, salsa, and all else that originates from south of the border, the Caribbean Jazz Project creates a "singularly multicultural musical experience" (Los Angeles Times). Led by vibraphone and marimba virtuoso Dave Samuels--a former Spyro Gyra bandmember--the ensemble also features Mark Walker (drums), Dario Eskanazi (piano), Oscar Stagnaro (bass), Diego Urcola (trumpet, flugelhorn), and Roberto Quintero (congas, percussion). A 2002 Grammy winner for Best Latin Jazz Album, the sextet returns to perform selections from its new CD, Past and Present, to be released in August 2006. Part of the Prelude Festival.
