About the Program

With his unique bluesy tone and creative string stylings, the late Keter Betts was a D.C. musical treasure--"one of the most respected bassists in jazz" (The Washington Post) who was also a rhythm section member for both Dinah Washington and Ella Fitzgerald. Local and national talents come together in performance and remembrance of his many gifts. Artists include vocalist Vanessa Rubin, pianists Junior Mance and Robert Redd, bassists Michael Bowie and James King, drummer Lenny Robinson, and saxophonist Davey Yarborough. A benefit program for Kennedy Center Jazz education programs.
