About the Program
Modern-day Renaissance man Oliver Lake is well-known for his fusion of diverse music styles, including free jazz, pop, Dixieland, rhythm and blues, and many more. The New York Times calls him "an alto saxophonist with a robust and piercing sound." His eclectic approach can be found in his collaborations with such artists as Björk, Lou Reed, Ron Brown, and in the World Saxophone Quartet, which he co-founded. Lake makes his Kennedy Center debut with his organ quintet, featuring the Hammond B-3, drums, trumpet, and DJ.Media partner: WPFW 89.3 FM
