About the Program

Innovative Blue Note saxophonist and composer Greg Osby has made his distinct mark in the realm of contemporary jazz as a bandleader as well as a sideman for such jazz greats as Dizzy Gillespie, Herbie Hancock, and Jack DeJohnette. The Wall Street Journal calls Osby "one of the few young musicians able to take in jazz's formidable tradition and build on it," while the New York Times says "his live sets are some of the most rewarding experiences of the moment." He returns to the KC Jazz Club with his progressive, renowned quintet.
