About the Program
"Fills the Terrace Theater with as much passion as it can hold"--The Washington Post
"The Guarneri has no superior on the world's stages."
--The New York Times
After 45 years as one of the world's most revered quartets, the Guarneri embark upon their final tour. After countless concerts, recordings, and honors, the group has spoken: "It has not only been a long journey, but a deeply satisfying one as well. What could be better than performing the inspired string quartet repertoire, traveling the world, and meeting wonderful people along the way!" The Guarneri begin their last concert in Washington--a Fortas exclusive, as their performances have always been--with Beethoven's stunning String Quartet in A minor. Then, as a loving gesture for their concluding work, the group welcomes back the only other member they've ever had. Original cellist David Soyer joins them for Schubert's Cello Quintet in C major, one of the pinnacles of the chamber music canon. It's a crowning moment you won't want to miss, as a lifetime of music comes full circle.
