About the Program
At home both playing the violin or on the podium, Itzhak Perlman takes the baton in a National Symphony Orchestra concert that featurs young French-Swiss artist Emmanuel Pahud—"the new flute sensation...an insightful and vital musician" (The New York Times). Perlman leads the Orchestra in the overture to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's comic opera "The Marriage of Figaro" and Antonin Dvorak's exuberant and rhaposdic Eighth Symphony, while Pahud performs Aram Ilich Khachaturian's stunning Violin Concerto, in a unique transcription for flute.
