About the Program

Artists:
Filled with hilarious sight gags and perfectly timed stunt work, Buster Keaton's The General (1927) is an imaginative masterpiece of dead-pan comedy. This story of a brave but foolish Confederate train engineer doggedly pursuing his beloved locomotive ("The General") and the woman he loves is generally regarded as one of the greatest of all silent comedies. Watch the entire classic silent film with the score performed live by the NSO and acclaimed organist Dennis James.
