About the Program

Building on the success of last summer's conference on new plays at Arena Stage, the Kennedy Center hosts this exciting three-day festival that spans the Center's many performance and workshop spaces! More than 20 theaters in the D.C. metropolitan area—each with a mission to produce and support new work—will present a series of free readings, open rehearsals, and panel discussions for plays and musicals being developed by their respective artists-in-residence. Here's your chance to get a sneak peak at many of the exciting new productions in development for upcoming Washington premieres. Some events may require free tickets.

Ticket Information
No tickets are needed for Millennium Stage events. Tickets for “Shakespeare in Hollywood” on Monday, September 2 at 3:00pm in the Terrace Theater will be distributed in front of the theater beginning at 2:00pm. An epic journey of three ordinary Americans living through the extra-ordinary years of Vietnam...the story moves from the juke joints on Beale Street to the halls of Berkeley to the back alleys of Saigon...from the rhythm-and-blues clubs of Detroit to the corridors of power in Washington DC...to the dusty roads of the Mississippi Delta. The politics of war, the explosion of the media and the personal sacrifices many Americans had to make play out against the backdrop of Memphis blues, San Francisco folk-rock and the smooth sounds of Motown. At a time when, half a world away, there was a war going on.. here at home events were moving at the speed-of-light...and the country was searching for salvation on the Streets of America.
