About the Program
Don’t miss this celebration of three sensational vocalists who emerged in the 1960s and have since become regarded as the national voices of Puerto Rico. For one night only, Chucho Avellanet, Lucecita Benítez, and Danny Rivera—known for their fusion of romantic, socially conscious, and political songs—come together in this special concert saluting their remarkable careers. Famed for his smooth boleros, Chucho Avellanet began his career as a teen idol of the island’s nueva ola (new wave) movement. Lucecita Benítez, another nueva ola teen sensation from the ’60s, continues to mesmerize international audiences with her rich and emotionally expressive voice. And three-time Grammy® nominee Danny Rivera is the only Puerto Rican singer to perform for three consecutive seasons at Carnegie Hall. All events and artists subject to change without prior notice.
