Named after Philadelphia's pioneering opera singer, the 2006 Marian Anderson Award is given to
American singers of great promise who have already achieved some success in opera, in recital,
and in the orchestra/oratorio repertory.  This year's recipient, Lawrence Brownlee of Youngstown, Ohio, has performed in Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Il Viaggio a Reims, La Cenerentola, and La Fille du Regiment, among other operas.
