Communities are accepted into the initiative through an application process. Applications will be accepted between January 1 and March 31. If accepted, the program begins in the Fall of the same year.

The Application Process

  • A community member who serves as the primary contact and Coordinator for the initiative contacts the Kennedy Center to indicate interest and to discuss the application process.
  • The Community Arts Team (CAT) is assembled and listed in the application.
  • The Coordinator submits the application to the Kennedy Center, including letters of support from the Superintendent of the school district, the Mayor or other local government official, and the CEO of a local arts organization (such as a local arts council or arts collaborative).
  • The last step in the application process is a site visit to the community by Kennedy Center staff. Following the site visit, the Kennedy Center makes a final decision about the viability of the application.

For complete details on the Application Process, including Tips for Applicants, please review the Any Given Child booklet.
