Partners in Education: Building Partnerships for Teachers' Professional Development in the Arts

[Partners in Education Report] This report focuses on the Kennedy Center's national Partners in Education program and the local Professional Development Opportunities for Teachers program on which it is based. The report is intended to help new members of the Partners in Education program and other interested individuals gain an increased understanding of the Kennedy Center's philosophy and practice regarding professional development programs for teachers.

Five major sections describe the history and focus of the Partners in Education program; provide an overview of the premises, goals, and characteristics of the Kennedy Center's local professional development program for teachers; highlight elements of effective partnerships between arts organizations and school systems; describe issues related to creating a season of professional development events; and analyze the Kennedy Center's workshop development process.
