VSA Programs
VSA's signature programs offer multi-faceted, unparalleled opportunities for youth, with disabilities, who have aspirations in the performing and visual arts. VSA's programming begins in the classroom, with resources and curriculum for teachers (and parents!) to utilize in implementing an arts experience for students of all abilities. The program competitions provide a platform for emerging artists to share their talent in comparison with peers across the country and the globe. Finally, pre-professional development opportunities, including lectures, seminars, and creative training provides skill-building and practical insight to prepare young artists to advance in their chosen field. Past VSA program recipients have gone on to successful careers in music, theater, and the visual arts.
VSA's signature programs nurture and recognize the vital role of arts education for students with disabilities, from pre-K through the 12th grade and beyond, to sustain achievement academically, socially and as engaged citizens of the twenty-first century. VSA program participants - whether writing their first one-act play or painting a self-portrait - are artists first!
