Allison Nega is the drama and dance director at Lincoln Park Academy in Fort Pierce, Florida. Prior to 2003, she worked as a professional actress in New York City, appearing in film, television, and regional theatre. She is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association, the Screen Actors Guild, and the Florida Professional Theatres Association and holds a BFA in acting from Ithaca College. Ms. Nega believes that arts education is an indisputable link to success in the classroom and beyond and her goal is to use theatre to increase literacy in public schools. She founded a partnership with National Public Radio where students learn sound design and produce radio plays. She and forty of her students recently traveled to London for a Shakespeare intensive at the Globe Theatre. Last year, her drama students submitted 22 original plays to the VSA arts Playwright Discovery Award program and are ready to get started again! All thanks go to her extraordinary students: "Your bravery and spark are the joy of my existence! Teaching you has been my greatest experience as an artist."
