About

America’s oldest professional ballet company has evolved into a preeminent, world-class dance force. Its dancers possess “classical style of astonishing verve and purity” (Anna Kisselgoff, The New York Times); the London Times asserts the company “deserves to be the envy of the ballet world.” Praised for its impeccable technique, broad repertory, and breathtaking dances, the San Francisco Ballet sets the standard for international dance.

With Artistic Director Helgi Tomasson at its helm, the company continues to expand and enrich its repertoire with a fascinating blend of traditional productions and innovative new works. For its first Kennedy Center engagement since the 2000 Balanchine Celebration, the San Francisco Ballet will perform two programs of mixed repertory, including Balanchine’s Serenade, Robbins’ Dances at a Gathering, Mark Morris’ Sandpaper Ballet, and a Tomasson work.
