Bangarra Dance Theatre, one of the most exciting and innovative performing arts companies in Australia today, has developed an electrifying and distinctive style through which it tells the contemporary stories of urban Aboriginal and Islander peoples. The company's extraordinary theatrically is matched only by its profoundly moving spirituality. Drawing on the traditional dances and culture of the remote communities in Australia's far north, Artistic Director Stephen Page has fused the traditional aspects of Aboriginal and Islander life with contemporary movement, and from this fusion has emerged a dramatically new style, singular and uniquely Australian.
