About
Under the artistic direction of Yorgos Loukos, Lyon Opera Ballet shocked and thrilled
Kennedy Center audiences with Cendrillon, Maguy
Martin’s doll-house version of "Cinderella," in 2002.
Now the acclaimed French company, known for its
witty and often surprising choreography, returns to the Eisenhower Theater
as part of the Kennedy Center Festival of France with the Washington premiere of Tricodex, a new work by French choreographer Philippe
Decouflé. Combining dance, mime, acrobatics, video, and film -- and featuring 30 dancers and nearly 150 costumes -- the production was inspired by contemporary artist and naturalist Luigi Serafini’s Codex Serafinius, a fantastical encyclopedia of imaginary animals, plants, machines, and objects.
