This session with Saul Lilienstein traces the evolution of the most important of all Italian composers, Giuseppe Verdi. With The Force of Destiny, Verdi was at the midpoint of the great career that spanned more than 50 years of tumultuous Italian history. Using The Force of Destiny as the centerpiece, this lecture traces a path to that moment and demonstrates how the elements of his style continued to deepen and mature.
